RollerCoaster TycoonThe latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine has revealed RollerCoaster Tycoon, the amusement park construction game that took the late 90s by storm, is heading to the Nintendo 3DS. I was always more of a Theme Park man, myself, but I’m certainly not complaining. Especially not when the only recent Theme Park releases have been hellish, cramped-looking ports.

The game, which is due out in March in the US, is being published by Atari and will feature 3D rollercoaster rides, touch-screen controls, and new 3DS-exclusive items. A “Coaster Story” mode will ease new players into the game with a series of tutorials and challenging scenarios.

999 Developer Developing 999-Looking Game for Nintendo 3DS

If you’ve been hoping for a sequel to Chunsoft’s visual novel-adventure, 999 (goodness knows I have), you’ll be pleased to hear about the developer’s new game Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die which is on its way to the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.

The game is Japan-only at the moment and Aksys Games, the company that localised 999 for the English market, says it has “no plans at this time regarding localisation”, but I’m hopeful somebody will pick this one up. Especially considering the Nintendo 3DS doesn’t really have any big visual novel games yet.

The game starts similarly to its spiritual predecessor, with a group of people trapped in a mysterious warehouse. 999′s numbered bracelets seem to be making a comeback, and the last shot of the trailer shows a door carrying a nine. Whether Zero is about to start a new round of the Nonary Game remains to be seen, but we’ll certainly keep an eye on this one for you.

Yes, that is another new title.

Pokémon RumbleIt’s called Super Pokémon Scramble in Japan, and Pokémon Rumble Blast in North America. And today, the Nintendo 3DS’s first Pokémon game has yet another new title: Super Pokémon Rumble. I don’t know why the European version gets a different name, but I’m not complaining — “Pokémon Rumble Blast” sounds really awkward.

We’ve also had confirmation from ONM that the game will be arriving in Europe in December, which is a pretty fast turnaround considering Japan only got it a few days ago. The game features all 649 Pokémon, cooperative play over local wireless, and even a StreetPass mode that allows you to challenge nearby players.

Outset Village will be bringing you more information on the game closer to its release.

Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Programme

Nintendo of Europe has released some official information about the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Programme, which will  begin on September 1 and give current 3DS owners access to 20 Virtual Console games.

Then ten NES games will be released as “priority delivery versions”, which include simple electronic manuals and, in some games, pass-and-play multiplayer functionality. This version of the games will also lack the Restore Point function we’ve come to know and love in the eShop’s existing Virtual Console titles.

However, when the games’ “official versions” launch in the future with full manuals, wireless multiplayer, and Restore Points, Ambassadors will be able to upgrade their software for free. There’ll only be one version of the Game Boy Advance games, which sadly won’t include the Restore Point feature at any stage. The information also states that, when the feature arrives in a future system update, players will be able to transfer their free Virtual Console games (and, presumably, the rest of their eShop downloads) to another Nintendo 3DS.

Colors! 3D Heading to the 3DS eShop

Outset Village is back from its mini hiatus! Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back up and running. It’s going to be at least another week before I get a proper home Internet connection, so I’m not completely up to speed, but I should at least be able to keep up with the news from now on.

Colors! 3DA simplistic painting application called Colors! 3D will arrive in the Nintendo eShop in the autumn. The software is the sequel to Colors!, a popular iPhone app from the same developer. The Nintendo 3DS version will allow players to create 3D paintings and, although I don’t know exactly how it’ll work, I’m sure it’ll be a step up from the doodling features in Nintendo’s own Camera and AR Games software.

Colors! 3D will also allow four people to collaborate on pictures using local Wi-Fi, and offers access to the original version’s extensive Colors! Gallery — which makes it possible to view other people’s artwork.

With PictoChat sadly missing from the Nintendo 3DS, and Flipnote Memo still awaiting a release date, Colors! 3D is likely to be a favourite with creative 3DS owners.
